Learning Web 2.0 design
One of the primary purposes of this web site is to learn good web design techniques. As mentioned earlier, I'm wading through a number of sites about basic web design. The Web 2.0 Design Guide seems like a nice place to start.
Web Graphics
Graphics seem to be an integral part of basic web design. To find out more about making graphics for a web site, I did a Google search on the keywords "web 2.0 graphics" and turned up a few sites that look interesting:

Web 2.0 design elements
The Web 2.0 Design Guide outlines their tutorial as follows:
In this tutorial, I describe various common graphic design elements in modern web ("2.0") design style.
I then attempt to explain why they work (i.e. why they have become common), as well as how, when and where you might use each element in your designs.
It follows on from my Current Style article, and analyses in greater depth the design features of the current "Web 2.0" design style.
In an article on CSS Galleries: Free Web Designs for Download writes that, the SEO Expert writes,
A visually appealing website design will not result in lots of recurring visitors if you don't have good content. In contrast bad, old-fashioned, or boring designs may well be accepted by a loyal readership if you have good content.
To have both good content and a good design is invaluable.
People who want to publish on the web do not need any knowledge of HTML, CSS and the like to get a site up and running. Many providers offer one-click installs of systems such as Wordpress, Drupal, and Joomla. Learning how to configure these systems will take some time but it is manageable. | Continued...
