Homesite 4.0 is my favorite editor. It's faster than Homesite 5.0 on older PCs and isn't bloated with features that I normally don't use.

However, there's a "Design Tab" included that's sometimes buggy and will cause your system to freeze if you accidentally click on it while you're editing with Homesite.

To disable 'Design' tab, click on Options / Settings... / Design - and check the "disable (hide) design box.
